John had an average year in 2004 after an excellent 2003 but still managed to show glimpses of his talent. The strong left hander arrived at the club 2 years ago after failing to make an impact with his native Yorkshire. Recently scored 82 not out v Durham UCCE, a match winning championship half century v Derby and another 50 at Derby in the Totesport League. Seems to be finally coming of age and continued improvement should see John impress in 2006. Has also been in explosive form in each 20/20 match this season and just keeps on getting better. Unfortunately, John sustained a broken collar bone in the tour match versus Australia and missed 20/20 finals day in 2005 but has been consistent in 2006 and his big hitting in 20/20 has been a real crowd pleaser.
