Garnett joined the County in June last year on a Kolpak and made enough impression to be rewarded with a new contract for 2008. The 31 year old has played Test cricket for South Africa and has been one of the most consistent bowlers in South African domestic cricket in recent years. Indeed, he has been in excellent form in his homeland this year, picking up 30 wickets at an average of 21.43 in the SuperSport series. Although he can be wayward, on his day he is as fast as anyone and is a real threat.
