After a slow start on his arrival from Essex last year, Darren went on to enjoy a great first season with the county. Only him and Brad Hodge managed to pass the 1000 runs barrier and he also chipped in with a one-day century. Is the first County player this season to make a century after making 100 exactly in the Championship at Northants and has continued to bat consistently this term. Scored another ton versus Derbyshire and is the club's most consistent performer this season but injury has ruled him out of one day and 20/20 matches. Scored four centuries in 2005, which took him past the 1,000 first class runs barrier for the second successive season.
