Charl signed for Leicestershire for a three week period as cover for RP Singh who was called up to the India one-day squad. The 32 year old was South Africa's star bowler in the World Cup, picking up 14 wickets and brings with him a wealth of experience. The former Somerset overseas player has played in 6 Test matches and 46 one-day internationals for the Proteas and early in his cricket career he also worked as a prison warder at Drakenstein prison near Cape Town.
