With Leicestershire's Academy now in full swing and with the success of the development of Stuart Broad, we take a look at the County's Academy players.
Chad Yates
Born: 17/9/1988 Leicester Role: Right Hand Batsman, Leg Break Bowler
High talented and highly rated batsman who was named Leicestershire Young Cricketer of the Year in 2006. Chad, a former student at Beauchamp College Oadby, averaged an incredible 190.67 for Leicestershire Under 17's last season and scored centuries in each of his four innings. The 18 year old also scored 70 on his debut for the second XI last season and big things are expected for Chad in the future.
Josh Cobb
Born: 17/8/1990 Leicester Role: Right Hand Batsman, Leg Break Bowler
Josh is the son of County coach Russell Cobb and completes a family tradition of association with Leicestershire. As well as Josh's dad Russell playing for many years in County's first team, his grandfather, A Cobb, represented the Second XI in the late sixties and early seventies. Former Bosworth College pupil Josh, represented the second team on one occasion last season at the age of 15, scoring 20 in the win over Durham at Durham University. He was captain of both Under 15 and 16 teams in 2006.
Sundeep Patel
Born: 10/1/1989 Leicester Role: Left Hand Batsman, Slow Left Arm Orthodox Bowler
Sundeep is a former student at Judgemeadow College and is a top order batsman. His top score for the U-19's last season was 77 versus Cambridgeshire and averaged over 50. Sundeep displayed his all round talents with a season's best haul of 3-40.
Daniel Brierley
Born: 7/10/1986 Stoke Role: Left Hand Batsman
Daniel is from Stoke-on-Trent and is the oldest member of the Academy. He played three matches for the Second XI last season and hit a top score of 58 not out.
Nathan Buck
Nathan is a pupil at Ashby school and represented the Midlands regional U-15 squad last year. His best bowling figures for the Under 15's last season were 3-15.
Sam Cliff
Sam is a newcomer to the Academy for 2007.
George Cairns
17 year old who was selected for the Midlands regional squad U-17 last year.
Harvinder Singh Uppal
A talented all rounder who scored 105 not out for the U-19's last season as well as taking plenty of wickets with his spin bowling.
Greg Smith
Batsman who scored 115 for the U-19's versus Herefordshire and averaged nearly 70 for his age group. Greg has also represented the Midlands Regional Academy team.
Rishi Patel
Impressed with the bat for both the U19's and U-17's last year with a top socre of 113 not out for the latter age group.
